Crochet Club is a club for creative students who want to learn how to make projects using yarn and a hook! We meet weekly from October 24 - December 9. In the Crochet Club, students will learn the basic crochet stitches of a chain, single crochet, and double crochet. They will practice finding the best way for them to hold their yarn and position fingers while they work. We will give brief tutorials about choosing the right yarn, hooks, and projects based on what they want to make. YouTube tutorials will be shared for students to practice their skills and continue learning outside of club meetings. We will offer two simple projects to work on over the 6 weeks. One is making a scarf and the other is making a blanket using squares or a continuous pattern. These projects can make a great gift for friends or family, as well as provide an opportunity to donate items for the community. Club advisors will show projects that they have made to inspire students on their future crochet journey!
This club is for students in grades 3-12.
Students must be able to purchase yarn and a hook to participate in projects.
Have patience with yourself as you learn.
Supplies Needed: 1 skein of yarn, 1 hook letter K, and scissors.
Be kind and courteous. Always use appropriate language. No hate speech or bullying.
I have six children (five boys and one girl) and they think that all I do is eat, sleep, read and crochet!
Ever since my Grandma taught me how to crochet 22 years ago, it has been one of my favorite pastimes and best way to make unique gifts for my friends and family!
Parent Advisors are requested. They will be expected to attend and participate in club meetings, including breakout rooms.
