Grade 3 - 12 (age 8 - 18)

ALEKS Math

ALEKS is a web-based, artificially intelligent assessment and self-paced learning system that uses questioning to quickly and accurately assess and then instruct the student on the topics. As a student works through a course, ALEKS periodically reassesses to ensure that topics learned are also retained. Parents will receive a weekly email update to show student progress.

If a student finishes a given course during the year, they can request to be moved to the next level within ALEKS.

In ALEKS, there is a way for a parent/guardian to receive reports (on a weekly or bi-weekly basis depending on your request). Keep in mind, the parent will need to then opt-in to the notifications.

What you will learn

  • ALEKS Overview Video

  • ALEKS Course Recommendations

  • A pie chart shows you what you need to be working on based on your assessment results. Each slice of the pie is a topic or part of the course. As you master topics different pieces of the pie will become available to work on.

  • When you click on the concept to begin working on it the system is putting you in Learning Mode. As you complete everything you can fill in your pie. This is basically how you complete the course.

  • Along the way you can get help on various topics and course content if you need it.

  • There are Worksheets available (Worksheet tab along the top) that are provided as supplemental work for you to do.

  • If a student takes an assessment and marks they haven't learned it yet it will take them back to the begining of that area. An assessment comes up when they Learn 20 topics -- or about 5 hours.
